My Favorite Ink Pen

I’ve always wondered if it were a little odd of me to include the Pilot Precise V5-RT Black Gel Ink Pen on my Christmas wish list. It is a strange request, I must admit, especially for Christmas. After all, a pen is a pen, right? Ink is ink, and as long as it writes, it’s good right?I’m sorry, the answer is no. This is blasphemy to anyone who calls themselves a writer. The pen, next to the writer himself, is the most vital tool for creating an eloquent poem, writing a convincing essay, or an evoking story. It is important to possess a couple of worthy ink pens, pens that you can trust to turn an idea into a tangible piece of art. Now of course, I always get a few puzzled stares from the family when they read my wish for this special ink pen. They lift their eyebrows, they ask, “Are you serious?” My dear aunt, in particular, inhales deeply and shakes her head, grimacing while saying, “Well, I guess.”If you must know, I never have gotten the pens for Christmas. Perhaps the request is a little overwhelming to those who are not writers. Perhaps it is a little too much to ask. Shopping for a very specific pen can be daunting, especially if it’s a Christmas present. I can understand that my family would rather not risk disappointing me. And that’s okay. Gift cards will do. I think I’d rather buy my favorite ink pen for myself- something about the experience I suppose. So what is it about the Pilot Precise V5-RT Black Gel Ink Pen that makes it so divine in the heavenly aisle of ink pens? Its name alone, though somewhat intimidating for its length, is reason enough. The brand is Pilot, a company that makes very trustworthy merchandise for a decent price. I am never disappointed with their products. The pen is completely precise. It writes smoothly over any surface and dries quickly. I’ve used this pen for everything- from scrapbooking, journaling, and writing essays for school. V5 is the size of the tip of the pen and thickness of the line the pen creates, which is 0.5mm. It isn’t too thick, it isn’t too thin, and because of this, the pen is perfect for a variety of projects. RT stands for retractable. There are no caps to keep track of, which is a tremendous plus. The pen lasts longer because the ink won’t dry out. Black is my preferred ink color, and gel is my preferred ink texture. The pen is also refillable.Though I just listed numerous pros, the best thing about these pens is the price! They come in packs of two, and often, I have seen them include a bonus pen or mini mechanical pencil in the packaging. I usually get mine at Target or Wal-Mart for under four bucks. I’ve been using them (and only them) for two years now, and am completely satisfied with their quality.
